Back from Galicia

I had started a post titled, "Off to Galicia" and well, then the packing and trip prep started and here we are, back from Galicia instead. Galicia, you may not know, is the northwestern-most province of Spain. They have green mountains and clear rivers and is very Oregon-esque there. We had a great time. It was just what I needed to hold me over another 10-11 months until we see the real Oregon.

We spent two weeks in a cool house with a pool. The weather was great. Grandparents joined us and we loved having them. The girls loved being spoiled by their grandparents. Well, that is there job I guess. I'll try to post some photos of our adventures there. But to sum up, we went to Santiago, Vigo and Pontevedra, stepped into Portugal for an hour, took a short hike (then mutiny was upon us), went to the beautiful beaches, visited a strange state park, ate delicious seafood, had a few picnics, toured the area around us, and relaxed many days at the house.

Eugene is home and a lithe 6 pounds lighter. My sanity returned for a while, but since we're getting into the new summer routine of morning "summer school work" and battling whiners, the sanity has waned a bit. We're the meanest parents ever, making them read and complete a couple of pages in a workbook every day. OK, well, Kerline has to do more than that, but hey, she's almost 16 and still working on picking up two new languages! No rest for the crazy.

It's good to be home away from home...
