I am SO ready for school to be back in session. The last two weeks have contained Fallas, Holy Week, a trip to Denia, three sets of visitors...my goodness! Must....have....routine. The kids' behavior has been all over the board with such irregularity, overstimulation and go, go, go. What on earth are we going to do with them all summer???
One plan we have for at least the first 2 weeks of the summer break (end of June) is to spend two weeks in Galicia, the northwesternmost province of Spain. My parents are coming as well, so it will be great family time! I must say, I have great parents. Flying that long is not their most favorite thing to do. They have always been parents who give and give and give. And again, they are sacrificing difficult travel time to be with us. It will make our vacation all that much better!
We are renting a house for those 2 weeks and a van (I will not have driven in over a year at that point...weird). We are planning some day trips to Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra and some more rural areas. Did you know Spain has these fjords? It's like Oregon meets Norway there, at least that is the impression I get. I'm totally excited to see big trees and green landscape. This is the area known as Green Spain...woohoo!
So that leaves July and August to occupy the kids. We will probably do a summer daycamp thing in July for Jolie and Eva, and maybe intensive Spanish classes for Kerline. August is hot as he** and also the least fun and most expensive time to travel, so I don't see us doing much more than daytrips. There are quite a few things to see within daytrip distance here.
Anyway, tomorrow morning kidlets are off to school again! YAHOO!
