Lord of the Flies ~ Part 2

Well, we survived the off-duty weekend. And not only did we survive, but we had a successful experiment. SO successful that we've decided to hand off meals on Saturday to the kids...yep, THEY are in charge. They don't know this yet, so don't spill the beans. We might be eating peanut butter and salsa sandwiches for comida, who knows!? But WE are off meal duty on Saturdays! Praise the Lord.

Maria and Kerline deserve public recognition because they really went above the call of duty and took care of a lot of stuff. Almost on par with parent-level responsibility. I think they enjoyed it too. There were other shining moments from others and a few of the expected petty fighting, etc. But in all we were really proud of the kids.

OK, don't laugh, but we have these family meetings every Sunday night. Kerline in particular looks at us like we are insane, probably thinking what in the world are we talking about all these feelings for.?..who cares! Get over it! But we do it to let them vent and then at the end we have a cheer. We put our hands in the middle like a regular basketball team and say, "Los Once!" (lohs own-say = The Eleven). Yes, cheesy, but we mostly all leave with a smile on our faces and that's what it's all about, right?

Right.
