Four and Six years ago today

Six years ago today our baby, Eva Macthanie was born. On this day I often imagine her birthmother, straining and screaming during her home birth in rural Haiti, with likely no medical attention. I also imagine little Macthanie entering this world likely also screaming...loudly. Thank you Lord for our little girl and please especially bless her birthmother on this day also.

Four years ago today, Eugene and I arrived in Haiti all smiles and wonder as we jostled through the streets of Port-au-Prince on our way to meet our youngest daughters for the first time. While in those first moments the girls were reserved and quiet, it didn't take long for their real personalities to come out. In the next days we would also meet Kerline for the first time, but little did we know that she would also become our daughter!

Most of you know the difficulties we had during that month in Haiti, but now we see the blessing that it was. We also fell in love with Haiti on that trip. No where else have I seen people with more strength and perserverance than there.

Today, as in every day since then, and every day from now on, I love all my daughters more each day and I love Haiti more each day. Thank the Lord for these blessings in my life and that I was given a life and a family that I could never have imagined.

Happy Birthday Eva Macthanie, Eva Lou, Eva Mactu, Lovebug, Skeever. XOXOXOXOXOXO Your Mamas and Papas love you!
